 TIGHT JEANS - short film



Plot = 3 characters are waiting for their friend to drive them somewhere and we listen to them talk and argue whilst they do so. 

Performance = Very simple, effective, and realistic dialogue and acting

Mise-en-scene = Effective and simple mise-en-scene - the colours they wear match their ideology (the clever one in blue, idiot in red, orange is the middle ground).

Cinematography = simple and maintains verisimilitude. Establishing shots of London. Stays fixed next to the main 3 characters or directly in front, only changing focus for short periods of time to other plot points - like the friend in the flat or the man wearing the tight jeans. Slowly pans around the 3 as they talk, helping the audience to feel the flow of the conversation. Use of deep focus

Opening and closing shot recee The majority of the shots in the film are being shot in my neighbour's house and the park outside our houses.  Since the park is made up of a lot of tight spaces we went on a recee to check that there was enough room for me to get the shots I had drawn up. Inspiration Shot: This was the first shot I drew up that inspired the whole plot of my screenplay. Once we checked this shot we realised it wouldn't work due to the architecture of the room, so we decided we would have to find a way to recreate the shot in the other location as it is pivotal for the aesthetic of my film (we had also just finished watching the newest episode of S7 Rick and Morty but that isn't a part of my story). The Arrival, Over, and Echo

 The Arrival  Soundtrack:  Ambient, simplistic, realistic and emotive. Different sounds throughout the short              film affect how she thinks and reacts and causes the key changes in her thought process.   Plot = A mother to be is awaiting the father of her child and considering whether or not to abort the           baby. 3 act structure: setup, dissonance between aborting or not, vague and open ended ending                where we are left confused as to whether she will or won't do it. Cinematography = Simplistic and fixed presentational style. Camera starts outside the door and only gets a clear shot when let in, we then slowly approach her - verisimilitude, as if we are coming over to sit and talk to her.
